Professional; confirmed by ESPN (Sept 2026). Next fight: Christian Mbilli for the WBC super middleweight title, 31 Oct 2026 record

The story

Santos Saúl Álvarez of Guadalajara turned pro at 15 in 2005 and, at 20, became the youngest WBC light middleweight champion. His one early setback was a 2013 loss to Floyd Mayweather. He beat Miguel Cotto, went 1-0-1 in his first two fights with Gennady Golovkin and later won their trilogy, and in 2019 knocked out Sergey Kovalev for a light heavyweight title, making him a champion in four weight classes. In 2021 he became the first undisputed super middleweight champion in history. He lost to Dmitry Bivol at light heavyweight in 2022 and to Terence Crawford in 2025, then had elbow surgery. He is booked to face Christian Mbilli for the WBC super middleweight title on 31 October 2026.
