The story
ande Ribeiro started training in Manaus with the Monteiro brothers at ten, then moved to Rio de Janeiro at 18 to study law and train under Royler Gracie at Gracie Humaitá, where his older brother Saulo promoted him to black belt in 2001. He won seven IBJJF world titles between 2004 and 2015, including the 2006 and 2008 absolute divisions, beating Roger Gracie in both finals. In no-gi he won ADCC gold at 99 kg in 2007 and 2009 and took the 2012 No-Gi World title in his weight and the absolute. With Saulo he founded the Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu Association and the University of Jiu-Jitsu in San Diego. He retired in 2022, was named to the ADCC Hall of Fame's 2024 class, and returned to competition in 2025.
