The story
ndy Souwer, from Den Bosch, was one of the most decorated 70 kg fighters of the 2000s, winning under both kickboxing and shootboxing rules. He took Japan's Shoot Boxing S-Cup in 2002, 2004, 2008 and 2012, and the K-1 World MAX twice. The 2005 MAX final against Buakaw Por. Pramuk went two extra rounds before Souwer won a split decision; in 2007 he beat Albert Kraus and then stopped home favorite Masato, whose left leg gave out under Souwer's low kicks and clinch knees. Trained by Andre Mannaart at Mejiro Gym during his peak, he also won the It's Showtime 70MAX world title in 2012 and later tried MMA in Rizin. He retired in 2021 after a loss to Marat Grigorian, with 161 wins from 184 recorded bouts.
