The story
emmy Schilt stood 212 cm and turned that frame into a system. A black belt in Ashihara karate, the Rotterdam native first built a long MMA career, including the Pancrase openweight title, before turning to K-1 kickboxing in 2002. He won the K-1 World Grand Prix in 2005, 2006 and 2007, the only fighter to take three in a row, and added a fourth in 2009 by stopping Badr Hari in the first round of the final. At Glory 4 on New Year's Eve 2012 he won four fights in one night, ending with a head-kick knockout of Daniel Ghiță. Opponents rarely got close: he used the jab, front kick and knee to keep fights at his range, and he was stopped only twice in kickboxing. A heart condition ended his career in 2013.
