The story

Amanda Serrano was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, and grew up in Brooklyn, where at 12 she followed her older sister Cindy into the gym. She won the New York Golden Gloves in 2008 and turned pro in 2009. Her only defeat in her first 44 fights came in Sweden in 2012, and she went on to win major world titles in seven weight classes, from super flyweight to light welterweight, a Guinness World Record for a woman. In 2023 she beat Erika Cruz to become undisputed featherweight champion, the first Puerto Rican undisputed champion of the four-belt era. She lost all three of her fights with Katie Taylor on the scorecards, the first a Madison Square Garden main event, and in 2026 reached 50 wins and a record-tying 32 knockouts.

Attack the body from southpaw: Serrano's power downstairs has ended fights, including a ninth-round body-shot knockout of Daniela Bermúdez. Drill southpaw hooks and straight lefts to the body, then bring the attack back up to the head.
