The story

Born in Pojuca, Bahia, Amanda Nunes became the first woman to hold two UFC titles at the same time. She won the bantamweight belt by choking out Miesha Tate in 2016, stopped Ronda Rousey in 48 seconds that December, and knocked out Cris Cyborg in 51 seconds in 2018 to add the featherweight title. Across the two divisions she made eight successful title defenses, and she holds the UFC women's record for knockouts. A submission loss to Julianna Peña in 2021 was one of the sport's big upsets, but she won the rematch clearly on the scorecards. She retired in 2023 and entered the UFC Hall of Fame in 2025, then announced a comeback; she is scheduled to face Kayla Harrison at UFC 334 in November 2026.

Steal this

Throw power punches in combination rather than one at a time, and follow any knockdown straight into top position. Boxing and MMA students can drill two- and three-punch combinations that finish with a committed power shot, then a sprint to mount or side control.
