The story
iffany van Soest was born in Torrance, California, grew up in Riverside and won a USKA world karate title at 18 before turning to Muay Thai. She turned professional in 2011, won a WBC Muaythai international title in 2012 and held Lion Fight belts at two weights. In 2016 she won Glory's super bantamweight title tournament, and her rivalry with France's Anissa Meksen became the division's defining series: Meksen beat her in 2017 and again in early 2019, then van Soest won their third fight in November 2019 to take the belt back. She held it for the rest of her career, which ended in September 2023 with a head-kick knockout of Sarah Moussaddak in Paris. Her spinning back fist was a favorite weapon.

Chain a spinning back fist off a missed kick the way van Soest did: throw the rear round kick, let the miss carry you around, and finish the rotation with the back fist while the opponent resets.
