The story

Adeline Gray owns six world titles, more than any other American woman. The Denver native grew up wrestling boys before girls' wrestling was sanctioned in Colorado, then won her first world title at 67 kg in 2012 by pinning Canada's Dorothy Yeats with four seconds left, and five more at 75 and 76 kg through 2021, with world bronzes in 2011, 2013 and 2023. Her Olympic story took longer: a quarterfinal loss in Rio in 2016, then silver in Tokyo after a 7-3 loss to Germany's Aline Rotter-Focken in the final. In July 2026 she won the first women's cruiserweight match in Real American Freestyle history. The National Wrestling Hall of Fame inducted her as an Outstanding American in 2025.

Build a pin from the arm-bar wing: Gray's signature move put Dorothy Yeats on her back to win her first world title with four seconds left. Drill the wing until you can hit it tired, late in a match.
