The story

Mohammad Hadi Saravi, from Amol in Mazandaran province, started wrestling seriously at 14 and was junior world champion at 87 kg in 2018. Moving up to 97 kg, he took bronze at the Tokyo Olympics after losing the semi-final to Armenia's Artur Aleksanyan, then won the 2021 world title in Oslo, beating Italy's Nikoloz Kakhelashvili 5–0 in the final. Aleksanyan also beat him at the 2019 and 2022 world championships, but in the Paris 2024 final Saravi scored a late takedown to win 4–1, giving Iran its first gold of those Games. In 2025 he regained the world title in Zagreb, using an arm drag to get behind Artur Sargsian for an early takedown and then protecting the lead. He has also won Asian Games gold and four Asian titles.

Use the arm drag to take the back: pull his arm across, step to the side and get behind him, then finish the takedown near the edge. Saravi scored the key points of the 2025 world final with exactly that sequence.
